Huwag kayong paloloko.

The struggle is real. And contrary to the perception of many, hindi lang ang kabataan ang dumaranas nito. Even adults experience this kind of challenge to their beliefs and convictions.

Peer pressure is everywhere. In school, within family circles, in church, at work. It comes in many different forms. The most common is the pressure to cheat during exams, to try smoking or drinking, cut classes, or join clubs that are not actually in line with what you believe in. Pero minsan galing din sa mas nakakatanda sa atin ― sa isang older cousin, teacher, or even from our own parents.

Pressures can either be well intended or otherwise. Whether coming from someone older than you or not, whether maganda ang intensyon o hindi, peer pressure is never a good thing.

It takes a lot of courage to fight pressure, so we need to pray for discernment to know who to allow in our circle. That’s why the Apostle Paul told the Corinthians to not be deceived because bad company corrupts good character (1 Corinthians 15:33). May false teachers kasi na nakapasok sa church at Corinth teaching that the resurrection of Jesus is not true (v. 32). We don’t have to be friends with everyone, but neither should we snub those who are different from us. Because Jesus is in us, we are the light and salt of the world. We can trust Him to guide us to the right kind of company.

LET’S PRAY

Dear Lord, You are my Best Friend who sticks with me in all circumstances.
