Put on Your New Self
At first, she thought okay naman ang suot niya, tamang t-shirt at pants, but her mom insisted na dapat magsuot siya ng mas maayos na damit, and so she obeyed.
How we dress often gives an impression on others, and when it comes to fashion maaaring sabihing kanya-kanyang preference naman ‘yan. But a little reminder of concern from our trusted people will mean no harm, especially kung para sa ikabubuti natin.
Katulad din ‘yan ng reminder ni Apostle Paul sa atin sa Colossians 3:10. When we accepted Jesus as our Savior, isinuot natin ang bagong pagkatao. At habang lalo natin Siyang nakikilala at nagre-renew tayo ng isip, we become more like Him. Si Jesus ang model natin. He did not wear fancy clothes back then, but he wore the magnificent virtues of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience (Colossians 3:12). Kaya nga, as Christ’s followers — chosen, holy, and loved — we clothe ourselves with these same virtues. This kind of clothing never gets old.
When we clothe ourselves with these virtues, we are also sending a good impression on others and that makes them attracted to Jesus. Di ba ang sarap makakita ng isang taong nagpapamalas ng kabutihang-loob sa iba? Lakas maka-good vibes! By putting on our new self, we are also letting the Lord Jesus know that we love and follow Him.
Kaya let’s put on our new self on a day-to-day basis. Siyempre hindi natin ‘yan kayang mag-isa, so let’s ask the Holy Spirit to help us do this every day.
LET’S PRAY
Lord Jesus, maraming salamat na binigyan Mo kami ng bagong pagkatao. Give me the wisdom and strength to be like you — compassionate, kind, humble, gentle, and patient Amen.
APPLICATION
Do an act of kindness to people you hardly notice (delivery rider, security guard, maintenance staff, etc.). Pray for them too.
