Sumagot si David, “Ang dala mo’y tabak, sibat at pantusok, ngunit lalabanan kita sa pangalan ni Yahweh, ang Makapangyarihang Diyos ng Israel na iyong hinahamak.

1 Samuel 17:45

There is a saying, “Champions aren’t born. They’re built.” If this is true, puwede bang maging champion ang lahat ng tao? There is a story in the Bible about a surprising hero who defeated a giant despite his humble background.

Si David ay bunso sa walong anak ni Jesse. He is a sheep breeder. When Israel was atwar with the Philistines, he was tasked to deliver grain and bread for his older brothers in the camp. When David heard Goliath defying God, he found the courage to fight him in a battle. Si Goliath ang champion ng Gath. Siya ay mahigit nine feet! Kaya hindi maiwasan ng Israeite soldiers ang manlumo at matakot sa kanya. But David, despite being young, won over Goliath (1 Samuel 17:1–32).

How did David do it?

He trusted God. His confidence was in His saving grace. As a sheep breeder, he faced a lot of danger in protecting the sheep from predators, but David triumphed over them because of God’s protection (1 Samuel 17:33–37).

David’s faith, along with his training as a sheep breeder, helped him in killing Goliath using only a sling and a stone. He was trained to think and move fast kapag nagbabantay ng mga tupa (1 Samuel 17:38–58).

You can be a champion in life like David if you put your hope in God. Every trial and hardship you’ve overcome is your preparation to defeat the greater giants that will come your way.

If you feel like giving up, remember the days when God rescued you from your problems and the days when He saved you from danger. Siya ang sikreto sa tagumpay.
