He felt devastated. Exaggerated as it may seem, inisip niyang ang lungkot namang mabuhay if he can’t enjoy the things he loves the most. He hated his new sugar-free lifestyle, but somehow he knew that he needed to comply to save his life.

But recently, he found a solution. A way to satisfy his cravings for sweets is by eating  fruits. Most fruits are also sweet, but they’re healthy. He realized that God knew about his sweet tooth, and even with diabetes, Tom can still enjoy sweet things.

Isn’t this the same way with life? We “crave” for things that aren’t healthy for us. The Bible mentions these as the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. But His Word reminds us of better alternatives that produce more joy in our lives. Para sa lust of the flesh, He gave us purpose. For the lust of the eyes, He provided the virtue of contentment, and humility is His remedy for the pride of life. All these things are infinitely better.

God is a good God. We sometimes mistake Him as a scary judge, but He is truly a good Father to us, His children. He is also a sweet God that allows us to enjoy the things that are meant for our good. Blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him!
