Sa children song na “The Love of Jesus,” inilarawan ang klase ng pag-ibig na meron ang Panginoon. The song talks about how His love is “higher than the sky, deeper than the ocean, and wider than the universe.”

What a wonderful love, ‘di ba? If we have that kind of love from Jesus, posible ba tayong magmahal katulad ng pagmamahal Niya?

When we think of loving like Jesus, we might say na mahirap pantayan ang pagmamahal Niya. Pero wala naman tayo sa contest kung sino ang mas magaling magmahal. Ang sinabi ni Jesus: “Magmahalan kayo. Kung paano ko kayo minamahal, ganoon din dapat ang pagmamahal ninyo sa isa’t isa” (Juan 13:34).

Jesus lived a life of love. To the people He spent time with, dinemonstrate Niya kung ano ang pagmamahal na gusto Niyang tularan natin.

He showed love through His obedience to the will of his Father. He extended forgiveness, healed the sick, showed compassion, fed the hungry, sincerely loved others without bias, gave grace like no other, and was never tolerant of sin.

We are all broken and sinful humans (Romans 3:23), dead in our sins, and totally incapable of loving. But because God is love (1 John 4:8) to all who receive and believe in Him, he gave the right to become children of God (John 1:12). He loved us so much, we are made alive in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:5).

Jesus is the blueprint of love. He is the living proof that we can love because God loved us first. His love covers all. Walang kasalanan ang hindi Niya kayang patawarin. Bulag, pipi, o bingi ay kaya Niyang katagpuin. Matigas na puso’y kaya Niyang palambutin. He restores broken relationships.

When we experience His freeing kind of love, magagawa rin natin maging malaya mula sa kasalanan at poot, at dito mag-uumpisa ang kakayanan nating magmahal tulad ng pagmamahal Niya.

Reflect on Jesus’ loving kindness. And never underestimate what Jesus’ love can do
