Every story about Jesus’ miracle is a story that builds up our faith. So come and join us today for our devotion as we continue our series “The Miracles of Jesus Part 2”.

Kaya’t sinabi sa kanya ni Jesus, “Dahil sa sinabi mo, maaari ka nang umuwi. Iniwan na ng demonyo ang iyong anak.”

Marcos 7:2930

“I have to see Him. It’s my daughter’s only chance to be healed,” she thought. She heard that Jesus, the traveling teacher who could perform miracles, was at this house in Tyre. But even if she comes, will He even give her the time of day? After all, she had many strikes against her. First, she’s a Gentile, considered unclean by the Jews (and being a Syrophenician at that, considered one of the worst of all pagans). Second, as a woman, her gender didn’t carry much weight in terms of cultural status during that time.

When she saw Him, she immediately fell at His feet. She begged, “Please help my daughter. Please cast out the demon from her.” Uncharacteristically, He didn’t say yes. At least, not yet. He told her, “First let the children eat all they want, for it is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs” (Mark 7:27, NIV). Pero hindi natinag ang ina. Discouragement wasnt an option. In a great act of faith and humility, she referred to Him as “Lord” and said, “even the dogs under the table eat the childrens crumbs” (Mark 7:28, NIV). Alam ng nanay na ito kung saan ang lugar niya. She had no right to demand His help, but her faith was big enough to ask for it. Jesus did not miss it. In Mark 7:2930 (The Message), we read, Jesus was impressed. You’re right! On your way! Your daughter is no longer disturbed. The demonic affliction is gone. She went home and found her daughter relaxed on the bed, the torment gone for good.

Jesus honors genuine faith and humility. If you feel that Jesus has no reason to listen to your prayers, you are wrong. Take it from this desperate mother who came to Him humbly, boldly, desperately. Because of her faith in Jesus, she experienced His grace and mercy.

Jesus honors genuine faith and humility, as shown in today’s devotion. Samahan ninyo kami uli bukas for our series “The Miracles of Jesus Part 2”.
