In today’s part two of our series “Magaang Buhay!” let’s look at how God met the needs of the people and how He can provide for your needs as well.

But Jesus took pity on the people. He fed them with five loaves and two fish, which He miraculously multiplied. With everyone well fed and satisfied, there were even twelve baskets of leftovers, indicating the providence of an all-sufficient God.

The feeding of the multitude mirrored God’s provision of manna for the Israelites in the wilderness (Exodus 16:136). By providing their daily sustenance one day at a time, God was teaching the Israelites to trust Him and have faith in Him.

Rather than worry over anything, think about God’s faithfulness, and rely on His all-sufficiency. Hindi Niya tayo pababayaan. Consider how we triumphed over the pandemic. Think about how we survive the rigors of daily living then.

Our trials today may be God’s way of preparing us to enter our Promised Land. He is cultivating our reliance on Him as we embark on our journey, much like the Israelites in the wilderness. They were about to enter their Promised Land, but they failed to trust God so none of them made it, except Joshua and Caleb (Numbers 14:30).

Just as God provided manna for the Israelites to save them from starvation, He gave us His beloved Son Jesus Christ to save us from the condemnation of our sin. Let us not emulate the disobedient Israelites, but Joshua and Caleb, who faithfully obeyed God.
