Kay Yahweh ay isang bagay lang ang aking hiniling, iisa lamang talaga ang aking hangarin: ang tumira sa Templo niya habang buhay, upang kagandahan ni Yahweh’y aking mapagmasdan, at doo’y humingi sa kanya ng patnubay.

Have you ever felt insecure dahil hindi ka maganda o guwapo sa paningin ng iba? Sa magazines, billboards, o kahit sa social media, we see beauty that is based on thestandards of society. Unfortunately, we sometimes feel that we don’t measure up to these. So, how then should we look at ourselves?

If we’d ever feel lacking in the beauty department, there’s no better way to solve this than to go to the Creator of everything beautiful and good — God Himself. Ang sabi ni David sa isa sa kanyang mga awit, “Kay Yahweh ay isang bagay lang ang aking hiniling, iisa lamang talaga ang aking hangarin: ang tumira sa Templo niya habang buhay, upang kagandahan ni Yahweh’y aking mapagmasdan, at doo’y humingi sa kanya ng patnubay” (Awit 27:4).

God’s beauty is incomparable, and He makes all things beautiful. Maganda ang mga nilikha ng Diyos. Subukan mong pumunta sa tabing dagat while the sun is setting. You cannot help but take a picture of the sunset. Try looking at a cloudy sky or a field of flowers, and you might just hear yourself gasp at how beautiful the scenery is. Makikita din natin ang kagandahan ng Diyos in the circumstances of our lives. We are in awe when we realize kung paano nagiging maayos ang mga pangyayari sa buhay natin. Only a beautiful God can make all things beautiful for us.

As we get to know God more deeply, lalong lumilinaw sa atin ang true concept of beauty. As we delight ourselves in Him, He becomes our very desires, and our insecurities disappear one by one, lalo na when we realize that we are formed in the image and likeness of a beautiful God. At the end of the day, because our God is beautiful, we can say na magaganda at mga guwapo rin tayo.
