Then one day, everything changed. Bigla siyang naging cold. Kung dati, hindi niya kayang hindi ka kausapin, ngayon lilipas ang weeks, months, and year bago ka na niya maalala. Kung dati close na close kayo, now he treats you like a stranger. And here you are, wondering what happened. Ang sakit nun, ‘di ba?

It’s sad that most of the time, we treat God in the same way. We’re like someone who suddenly gives our partner the cold treatment. We say, “I love You, Lord!” today, then the next day, nagkaproblema lang, tatalikuran na si God because of lack of trust. We say, “Lord, sagutin lang Ninyo talaga itong prayer ko, promise—magseserve ako sa ‘Yo all my life!”

Nakakalungkot na minsan, our love for God turns cold. But it’s amazing that even if Jesus knew that our love for Him will grow cold, He still chose to stay. He did not give up. He did not leave us. In fact, nakita na Niya that in the future tatalikuran Siya at iiwan ng marami. Sinabi Niya ito sa Mt. of Olives when His disciples asked him about the future: “Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold” (Matthew 24:12 NLT). In spite of this, He still sacrificed Himself on the cross as payment for our sins to prove His unconditional love for us (Romans 5:8).

LET’S PRAY

Lord, thank You that You love me unconditionally. I repent and turn away from things that draw me away from You. Lord, fill my heart with Your love so I can love You back.

APPLICATION

Pray for a friend na tila “nanlalamig” sa Panginoon. Send this person words of encouragement and a reminder of God’s great love.
