Desperado Ka na Ba?
Pinagsabihan siya ng mga taong naroroon upang tumahimik, ngunit lalo pa siyang nagsisigaw, “Anak ni David, mahabag po kayo sa akin!”
Marcos 10:48
Kapag narinig mo ang salitang “desperado,” ano ang unang naiisip mo? Surely, you’d think of something negative — nakakahiya o kaya naman ay kapit sa patalim. Being called desperate is something you wouldn’t want. Pero alam mo bang being desperate can lead you to receive a blessing?
That’s exactly what happened to Bartimaeus. Sa Mark 10:46–52, mababasa natin ang kuwento ng bulag at pulubing ito who shouted desperately for Jesus’ attention because He wanted to be healed.
Sa totoo lang, hindi si Bartimeaus ang klase ng taong madalas na pagtutuunan ng pansin. He isn’t rich, and he is considered an outcast of the society. Pero when he heard that Jesus would pass by, alam niyang kailangan niyang makuha ang atensyonnito. And even when people asked him to shut up, mas lalo pa niyang nilakasan ang boses niya, calling on the name of Jesus. Nang tawagin ni Bartimaeus ang pangalan ni Jesus bilang “Son of David,” he believed in his heart that Jesus is the prophesied Savior of Israel.
Faith, combined with desperation and persistence, caught the attention of Jesus and paved the way for a miracle. A prayer fueled by desperation is powerful, hindi dahil sa lakas ng sigaw kundi dahil alam ni Bartimaeus kung kanino siya sumisigaw para humingi ng kagalingan. He believed Jesus was his only hope.
Sometimes, people would try to silence our prayers and discourage us. Pero tulad ni Bartimaeus, show your desperation and don’t stop crying out to Jesus.
Jesus sees. He hears. And He stops for those who are desperately seeking Him.
LET’S PRAY
Lord Jesus, thank You for seeing me even when others overlook me. I will keep calling out to You, even when I feel unheard. Thank You for giving me faith to believe that You will respond in Your perfect way and time. Even while waiting, I will put my hope in You. Amen.
APPLICATION
If you have a great need, express your desperation to God. Don’t hold back in prayer. Be honest and bold. Cry out to Him with every burden you carry, and receive His peace.
