Awit 16:5–6

Have you ever walked into a room and felt like you don’t belong there? Wala kang kakilala o di kaya’y you felt out of place? O kung hindi unwanted, you feel like you have to earn your way to acceptance. You put on a mask so people would like you.

Ganito ang kuwento ng buhay ni Rachel. Her father left them for another woman. Since then, hindi na nawala ang feeling niyang she’s unwanted. Kahit saang grupo, she feels like she doesn’t belong. So to survive, she has to be the best so she won’t be rejected.

Rejection can come in many forms — when we don’t get invited, when another person gets the blessing instead of us, or when the people we thought would be there leave us. Anuman ang situation, rejection hurts at kapag hindi ito na-resolve, it would keep on resurfacing even as we grow older.

Buti na lang, we can hold on to Psalm 16:5–6 which reminds us of a beautiful truth: we are not overlooked by God. In fact, He has already set aside a place for us, a “good inheritance,” sabi sa verse.

Sa pamilya ng Diyos, hindi tayo out of place at hindi tayo rejected. Even when doors close for us or we miss an opportunity, inili-lead tayo ni Lord sa lugar that He has prepared for us. Merong nakalaan na blessing para sa mga taong nagtitiwala sa Diyos. What a beautiful promise!

LET’S PRAY

Heavenly Father, salamat po for accepting me into Your family. Patawarin Ninyo po ako for the times when I look to people for validation. Turuan po Ninyo ang puso ko to be contented with my portion from You. Kayo po ang aking greatest blessing and joy. Amen.

APPLICATION

Insecurity from being rejected before is a deeply rooted feeling we can trace back to our past. Ask the Lord to heal your heart. And every time you feel out of place or unwanted, run to God’s loving arms. Read and meditate on 1 John 4:18. Ask God to fill you with His love so you can overcome your fears of rejection.
