Magpahinga Rin Kapag May Time

Pagkatapos ng maghapong paglalakad ay naupo siya sa lilim ng isang puno at nanalangin nang ganito: Yahweh, kunin na po ninyo ako. Ako po’y hirap na hirap na. Mabuti pa pong mamatay na ako.Pagkatapos, nahiga siya at nakatulog. Ngunit dumating ang isang anghel, kinalabit siya nito at ang sabi, Gising na at kumain ka!

1 Mga Hari 19:4-5

You have just experienced a great spiritual breakthrough. Nakipag-showdown sa false prophets. Nakapagpatawag ng apoy mula sa langit. Pero bakit gusto mo nang mamatay? These are the questions any person might ask Elijah.

Bago natin pagalitan ang propeta for thinking that he doesn’t have enough faith, mabuti sigurong intindihin natin ang pinanggalingan niya. Pagod—napagod siya. Sa sobrang pagod, na-magnify ang maliit na takot sa puso niya na naging higante. Kaya naman nang marinig ang balitang ipapapatay siya ni Jezebel, he wanted to give up on life.

God, instead of scolding him, dealt with the discouraged prophet in the most practical way: Pinagpahinga siya at pinakain. Bago pa mauso ang hotel na may room service, na-experience na ito ni Elijah. Nagpadala ang Diyos ng anghel na siyang gumising kay Elijah at nagbigay sa kanya ng pagkain. The angel did this twice because after Elijah had his first meal, he slept again. He was that tired.

In a world that celebrates success and the work-till-you’re-dead thinking, we learn something valuable about God. He is not cruel master, a slave driver who punishes His servants for resting. In fact, Siya mismo ang nagbibigay ng kapahingahan sa atin kapag napapagod tayo. It’s time to stop feeling guilty when we have to step away for a while to rest. It is biblical to rest. Kung si Elijah nga kinailangang magpahinga, bakit hindi tayo?

Sa buwang ito, magtakda ng isa o dalawang araw kung kailan wala kang ibang gagawin kundi magpahinga. Catch up on sleep. Enjoy eating good food—‘yung hindi ka nagmamadali sa pagkain. Pray. Talk to God and thank Him for giving you the strength and ask Him for fresh inspiration to continue.
