Mga kapatid, kung may makagawa ng kasalanan, kayong pinapatnubayan ng Espiritu ang magtuwid sa kanya. Gawin ninyo iyon nang mahinahon, at mag-ingat kayo, baka kayo naman ang matukso.

Mga Taga-Galacia 6:1

Nobody wants to be called out. Kahit na ba magulang, teacher, kaibigan pa ang nag-reprimand sa atin, part of us feels offended kapag napagsasabihan tayo. It doesn’t matter whether we were admonished for something we were guilty of or not, something in our ego gets ticked off whenever we are reproached.

It takes humility to accept correction and rebuke. Napakadaling magmukmok na lang sa isang tabi at i-convince ang sarili na mali ang taong nag-rebuke sa atin. Napakadaling sabihing na-judge lang tayo ng taong iyon. Pero pinag-isipan mo ba kung talagang mali siya? Baka naman may point siya? Baka naman he’s doing this out of genuine love and concern? Hindi kaya sinabi niya ito sa iyo para mag-improve ka?

Sa kabilang banda, not all corrections are godly and must be taken seriously. Who admonished you matters too. In this world of more bashers than supporters, kailangan din nating kilatisin ang pagkatao, pinanggagalingan, at relasyon natin sa taong nangusap sa atin. Is she someone you respect because of her spiritual walk? Is she growing in the Lord and living in His ways? Or is she somebody who speaks out of spite and insecurity? Seek the Holy Spirit’s leading, wisdom, and discernment.

But just the same, Galatians 6:1 also says that if it is our turn to correct someone, we should also be careful, lest we be the one who gets tempted. Bago tayo magtuwid sa ibang tao, siguraduhin nating kalmado rin tayo at hindi judgmental and self-righteous. It is always important that we speak graciously and in a manner that is pleasing to the Lord.
