Kaya naman sa arguments o kahit sa simpleng discussions, when a person raises his or her voice, it’s interpreted as being angry. Worse, when left unchecked, it could escalate to fighting physically, and could eventually ruin relationships.

Words are powerful and how we deliver them make them even more powerful in making or breaking another person. Kaya naman reminder ng Diyos sa atin to be careful when answering a person in an argument. No one wins an argument by raising voices. It’s like fighting fire with fire.

Ang tunay na makakapagpanalo ng isang away is the one who practices gentleness and in turn, becomes a peacemaker. This is true kahit pa sinasabi ng mundo sa atin na we should have the last say in every argument.

Ang sabi sa Proverbs 15:1a, “A gentle answer will calm a person’s anger.” Kapag gentle o malumanay ang pagsasalita natin, it soothes the other person’s emotions. With emotions safely regulated, madaling mapag-uusapan ang anumang naging problema.

LET’S PRAY

Dear God, forgive me for the times na hindi ako naging gentle and kind in speaking toward other people. Help me see other people with eyes of grace and love. Make me a peacekeeper as I grow to be more like Jesus every day. Amen.

APPLICATION

Read and memorize James 1:19-20. Whenever you are confronted with a situation that would make you want to respond in anger, remind yourself of these verses. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you control your emotions and see the situation through God’s perspective.
