Mahalaga ang usaping pera sa Panginoon, kaya naman ngayon, simulan natin ang series na “Stewardship of Treasures.”

At nagpatuloy si Jesus sa pagsasalita, “Kaya’t sinasabi ko sa inyo, gamitin ninyo ang kayamanan ng mundong ito sa paggawa ng mabuti sa inyong mga kapwa upang kung maubos na iyon ay tanggapin naman kayo sa tahanang walang hanggan.”

Lucas 16:9

Luke 16:1-9 tells us about the parable of the shrewd manager. Take note that in the story, the rich man who had a manager does not symbolize God because it is not consistent with the Lord’s character to tolerate wrongdoings. Kung ganoon, ano ang lesson na mapupulot natin sa parable na ito? Ano ang ginawa ng tusong katiwala na dapat nating gayahin?

This is what the shrewd manager did: One by one he called in the people who were in debt to his master and reduced their debt. Ginawa niya ito para may tatanggap sa kanya kapag pinaalis na siya ng kanyang amo. Most likely, tuwang-tuwa ang mga may utang and they were so grateful to the rich man. At dahil siguro sa hiya, the rich man received the praises of his debtors kahit nalugi siya. Hindi niya puwedeng sabihin na hindi niya iniutos ‘yun dahil masisira ang pangalan niya. The shrewd manager certainly took advantage of the situation. Maybe he was not fired at all, or even if he was, he could run to the debtors for help.

Money is just a tool, not a life goal. Let’s use the money which God entrusted to us to do good to others. Let’s convert our cash into friends para may maaasahan tayo sa oras ng kagipitan. But be wise sa pagpili kung sino ang tutulungan. At siyempre, ang biggest investment ay kay Lord. Give to your local church and support the pastor. Mag-support ng full-time missionaries. Open your house to ministry workers who need a temporary space. When it is your turn to ask for help, si Lord mismo ang tutulong sa iyo.
