1 Juan 2:15b–16

Ready to use your credit card for mid-month 6.6, 7.7, or PayDay online sale? But we are tempted not just with buying things. Kapag nagbinge-watch naman ng mga telenovela o movies na may kahalayan, then we are tempted to lust.

The first temptation happened to Eve in the Garden of Eden. She was tempted by Satan to eat the forbidden fruit. Naging very appealing ang fruit to her appetite (desire for her comfort), and it became pleasing to her eyes (desire for food or physical needs). She also thought that eating it will make her as wise as God (pride of life).

Again, the enemy used the same tactic in tempting Jesus in the wilderness (Matthew 4:1–11). He asked Him to turn the stones into bread, challenged Him to throw Himself down para ma-save ng angels, and offered Him the kingdoms of the world in exchange for His worship. Ang mga ito ay nag-appeal sa lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, at pride of life. Mabuti na lang that Jesus was able to resist Satan as He used the word of God to counter his temptations.

How about you? Paano mo nilalaban ang temptation na mahulog sa drunkenness, gluttony, sexual immorality, idolatry, love for money, or materialism? Remember that no temptation is irresistible. It is possible to resist it with the power of God.

Lord, we recognize that apart from You, we can do nothing. It is impossible for us to resist the devil without Your power. By Your mercy and power, ipakita Ninyo sa amin how we can say no to temptations. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
