“Kaguluhan at taggutom, iyo lamang tatawanan …”

Job 5:22

He accidentally slipped while hiking a famous mountain and fell off a cliff in Norway. It’s unimaginable how his parents responded to such horrible news.

We are reminded of Job na maraming trahedyang sinapit sa buhay. God Himself described him as “the finest man in all the earth, blameless and a man of complete integrity” (Job 1:8) and yet he was stripped of everything ― his ten children were crushed to death, his cattle and all his riches destroyed, and his servants killed. Not only did he lose his wealth, but he also contracted a dreaded disease (Job 1:13–19, 2:7–8.)

In the midst of severe sufferings, Job did not curse God. Instead, he worshiped the Lord and praised His name (Job 1:21). In their sorrow, they worshiped God, acknowledged His sovereignty, and chose to trust in His goodness (Psalm 62:8).

When suffering, trust the Lord because He promised to be with us. God is with us in times of death, loss, sickness, depression, and enemy attacks. It is God who shall see us through our battles in life until we are able to laugh again. It may take time, but the Holy Spirit shall surely fill our lonely hearts with unspeakable joy until we are able to laugh again.

You are my refuge and strength. Dear Holy Spirit, help me to laugh again. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

APPLICATION

Think about the challenges na iyong pinagdadaanan. Sa bawat problema, list at least two good things that have come out of it. Let this encourage you and fill you with joy.
