Tayo’y tinawag ng Diyos upang mamuhay sa kabanalan, hindi sa kahalayan. Kaya, ang sinumang ayaw sumunod sa katuruang ito ay hindi sa tao sumusuway, kundi sa Diyos na siyang nagkakaloob sa inyo ng kanyang Espiritu Santo.

1 Mga Taga-Tesalonica 4:7–8

God calls His people to be holy for He is holy (1 Peter 1:15–16; Leviticus 19:2). In Apostle Paul’s letter to the Thessalonians, he told them na dapat silang magpakabanal at lumayo sa lahat ng uri ng kahalayan (1 Thessalonians 4:3–7).

Sex is sacred to God and it’s His gift to husband and wife in the covenant of marriage (Hebrews 13:4, 1 Corinthians 7:3–5). Pero dahil sa ating sinful nature (Ephesians 2:3), hindi tayo exempted sa temptations. Lust of the flesh leads to more sins (James 1:14–15). When we look at someone with lust, even just the person’s photo or image in our mind (Matthew 5:28), or have sex outside marriage, we are not only violating the person created in the image of God but God Himself. Sa panahon ngayon, madaling ma-expose sa movies or TV shows, songs, commercials, or social media posts na may sexually charged content. So is it impossible for us, Christians, to be pure?

Sa Bible, dalawang tao ang kilala nating hinarap ang temptation na ito: Si David (2 Samuel 11:1–27) at si Joseph (Genesis 39:1–12). Both knew the Lord, were tempted but responded differently. David gave in while Joseph fled from it. Maybe you’re struggling with lustful thoughts or viewing unwholesome content. Like Joseph, ask God to strengthen you to flee from these things. God is faithful to give you a way out (1 Corinthians 10:13). Or maybe you are coming from the guilt and shame of falling into sin. Like David, confess this to the Lord, ask Him to help you repent and receive His gift of forgiveness (Psalm 32:5). Don’t feel trapped by temptation. There is always a way out.
