Kumusta ang tulog ninyo kagabi? We hope gising na gising na kayo para sa pagpapatuloy ng ating series na “Healthy and Well.”

Pagkatapos ng maghapong paglalakad ay naupo siya sa lilim ng isang puno at nanalangin nang ganito: “Yahweh, kunin na po ninyo ako. Ako po’y hirap na hirap na. Mabuti pa pong mamatay na ako.” Pagkatapos, nahiga siya at nakatulog.

1 Mga Hari 19:4–5

Naranasan mo na ba ang sleepless nights dahil sa dami ng problema mo? Deadlines sa work, may threat sa buhay mo, may magdedemanda sa iyo dahil sa laki ng utang mo? Did you a reach a point na niresetahan ka na ng doctor ng sleeping pills?

Hindi exempted si Elijah, a prophet in the Bible, sa pagkakaroon ng sleepless nights. He experienced depression when Jezebel threatened to kill him. He even asked God to take his life dahil sa takot! (1 Kings 19:1–4)

Pero ano nga ba ang naging prescription ni God para makabangon si Elijah from depression?

Simply, God let Elijah sleep. Pagkatapos ng mahabang paglalakad noong nagtatago siya, umupo siya sa ilalim ng puno and after praying to God, nakatulog siya (1 Kings 19:5–7). While sleeping, not one enemy showed up to kill Elijah.

Isa sa mga paraan ng pagpapakita ni God ng love sa atin ay ‘yung pagbibigay Niya ng masarap na tulog sa gitna ng mga matitindi nating pinagdaraanan sa buhay. Sino ba naman ang makakatulog kung puno tayo ng concerns at worries, ’di ba?

That’s why sleep is God’s gift and is beneficial to those who are sick, tired, and loaded with burdens. Even medical research says that sleep helps fight off illnesses by boosting our immune system. It also reduces stress and improves our mood.

Magtiwala tayo that God is in control at kaya Niyang gawan ng paraan ang mga problema natin sa buhay kahit natutulog pa tayo (Isaiah 43:1–7). He cares for those who trust in Him (Nahum 1:7) and promises that His mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22–23).

Dear God, I really need You. Because of sleepless nights, affected na po ang mood, relationships, at pagtingin ko sa buhay. Right now, I surrender my life to You and accept Your peace. May You give me rest and a good night’s sleep. Amen.
