Welcome to our series “Honoring God with Your Money.” Today’s devotion shows us how a couple not only honored one another as a marriage partner, but most of all, how they honored God with their hard-earned money.

Mataman niyang tinitingnan ang bukid bago siya magbayad, ang kanyang naiimpok ay ipinagpapatanim ng ubas.

Mga Kawikaan 31:16

Gen’s husband is an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW). The couple’s goal is for him to finish a single contract of five years to earn enough money to start a food business andto be together as a family, as soon as possible. In order for this plan to happen, Gen followed a strict budgeting of their finances. She invested some of the excess funds sa isang legitimate investment company at nag-start din siya ng small online business.

Ngayon, thriving na ang kanyang maliit na negosyo at kumikita na rin ang investment niya, which gave them enough funds to start a food business. Wala pang five years and yet, Gen and her husband were able to reach their goal. Just a little more patience and he would soon be home with his family.

Gen is a great example of a noble wife. In Proverbs 31, King Lemuel mentioned na a wife of noble character is worth far more than rubies. She uses her wisdom, her talents, and her skills to care for herself and her family. A wife of noble character is not idle. Hindi siya basta na lang naghihintay sa ibibigay ng asawa kundi pinalalago ang kahit anumang sobra sa kinikita nito.

With our current financial situation, is it possible to be like Gen? What if wala talagang sobra? What if maraming utang na kailangan bayaran? What if wala nang ipambibili ng pagkain bukas?

King Lemuel also said that a noble woman of character is a woman who fears God. She honors the Lord by being a good steward of His blessing. Regardless of our financial status, a person who trusts the Lord will never be put to shame. Kung kulang pa sa ngayon, umasa sa ating Panginoon.

Let’s be wise by continually listening to God’s word for advice. See you tomorrow!

LET’S PRAY

Dear God, I pray to be like the woman mentioned in Proverbs 31, a person who fears You and honors You in everything I do. Thank You, Jesus.

APPLICATION

If you are currently struggling with paying debts, take a moment to ask God’s wisdom kung paano mo maba-budget wisely ang salary mo, even if you have to start paying as small as 100 pesos.
