Nagpunta si Bernabe sa Tarso upang hanapin si Saulo, at nang kanyang matagpuan ay isinama niya ito sa Antioquia. Isang taon silang nanatili roon na kasa-kasama ng iglesya, at nagtuturo sa maraming tao. Doon sa Antioquia unang tinawag na Cristiano ang mga tagasunod ni Jesus.

You can read about the first time the word “Christian” is used sa book of Acts 11:26—“Doon sa Antioquia unang tinawag na Cristiano ang mga tagasunod ni Jesus.” According to historical accounts, hindi ito compliment noong panahon na iyon. Masasabi natin na sarcastic o pang-asar ang label na Christian because the followers of Jesus were not accepted in the pagan city of Antioch.

Even now, in this modern day and age, Christians are sometimes mocked and looked down on. In extreme cases sa maraming bansa, persecuted ang mga Cristiano. But even in countries like ours, minsan, hindi maganda ang tingin ng iba sa mga Bible-believing, church-going followers of Jesus. Tinatawag silang conservative, boring, baduy, old-fashioned, at iba pa.

Are you a Christian? I am! If you are, let us not forget what it first meant to be a Christian, and that is, to be a disciple of Christ. To be a Christian is to be a follower of the Lord Jesus. There are times that we don’t say we are Christians. Quiet lang tayo. Pero alam mo ba ang sabi sa Hebreo 2:11? “Hindi ikinahiya ni Jesus na tawagin tayong mga kapatid.” What a privilege to be identified with Christ! What a privilege to be called a Christian. Huwag natin iyang kalimutan.
